HIGH ABOVE THE GROUND
KADİRHAS UNIVERSITY FACULTY OF ART AND DESIGN
SPRING 2019 / 2020
High Above The Ground is a Second Semester Final Project of the first year students from Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and Industrial Design Departments of Faculty of Art and Design in Kadir Has University in 2020. There are ten different sections working on an idea of a vertical living organization that are supposed to attach to an existing or imaginary wall developed by students and mentors of each group. In this project, all spaces must be designed as small as possible using the available quota efficiently, considering ergonomic, climatic, structural and material issues. Closed, semi-open and open spaces must be available for the residents, in relation to private, semi-private and public spaces. Students designed a single capsule or a group of capsules made of modular units. The final works are exhibited here online as a connected frontal elevation of all vertical villages.

High Above The Ground is a seven-week project that is studied during the Period of Covid 19 Pandemia after one week of studio study. The last six weeks are developed using online education tools within each section. All sections have a different approach and design problem. Some of them are focused on the current unexpected conditions of Covid 19 Pandemia, to discuss the possible scenarios of living under the new normal, some of them focused on modularity, some on construction details.

All sections produce a unified collage of the works of the students. This site is an index by which visitors can reach the details of High Above The Ground Project and personal portfolios of the students that are produced as web sites.
